May always feels like a breath of fresh air to me. The weather starts to warm up, everything is blooming, and there’s just an energy that feels full of life again.

This month is extra special. It's my birthday month, it’s Derby week (which we all love around here), and I’m also getting the opportunity to be part of the Habitat for Humanity Women’s Build. Being able to use what I do every day to give back and help build a home for someone in our community… It really means a lot to me.

A NOTE FROM ME

One of the things I love most about being a custom home builder is that no two homes are ever the same because no two families are the same.

Every home we build has a story. It’s built with intention. It reflects how that homeowner lives, what they love, and what matters most to them.

One of our Homeowners loves F1 Racing and we were able to incorporate that passion right into their home. We designed a basement space featuring F1-inspired details, and even created a custom wallpaper for their powder room showcasing different race tracks from around the world.

Those are the kinds of details that make a house feel like home. And getting to be part of bringing those ideas to life…that’s what I truly love about what I do.

A Little Home Nudge

With all the crazy weather and high winds we’ve had lately, this is a good time to give a little attention to your roof and exterior

• Take a quick look at your roof and shingles (or from the ground with binoculars!) to check for any missing or lifted areas

• Check your eaves and gutters to make sure nothing has come loose or clogged

• Make sure your downspouts are directing water away from your home

• 
  

And while you’re out there—this is also a great time to think about pest control on the exterior.  Simple perimeter treatment can go a long way in keeping bugs from making their way inside as the weather warms up.

Just a few small things now can help prevent bigger issues later.
